Hi, dear friends!
Today’s pattern is Munchlax from Pokemon :D I designed this pattern to work as a doorstop, because I was in need of something to hold my door open. That was when I had the idea to make a heavy pokemon to hold the door. First, I thought about geodude, but as I wanted something easier to make, I realized that munchlax would be a great idea!
If you guys don’t want to use it as a doorstop, you may just fill his body with fiberfill. However, I didn’t write a pattern for his feet as they won’t help to use him as a doorstop. If you want to make his feet, you may use my Snorlax pattern as reference. Their feet are very similiar, although Munchlax’s feet are smaller.
That’s it. Hope you like it! ^^
Materials:
– Teal yarn (I used Red Heart Super Saver Solids, which is a Aran / 10 ply (8 wpi));
– Cream yarn (I used Le Mont, which is a DK / 8 ply (11 wpi));
– 4mm crochet hook;
– Fiberfill;
– Needle, tapestry needle and scissors;
– Sand;
– Fabric;
– Paintbrush and black fabric paint;
– White felt;
– Contact glue.
Notes:
– I always do my crochet works using continuous rounds;
– Everytime I will do a crochet work, the first thing I do is take a look in the entirely pattern before start doing it, so, I can have an idea of how the pattern works. Well, I recommend you to do the same;
– For sewing the pieces together you will use the tapestry needle;
– I used beach sand to make the weight.
Recently, I’m having a hard time to answer all the questions sent to my email and the comments. I’m sorry that I’m not able to answer your doubts. However, if you have any doubt, I’m sure that it is worth to leave a comment here, because even if I can’t answer you, I’m sure that someone in the community will try to help you out ^^

**Now we are going to make his fingers:
To make each finger you are going to join 2 stitches with another 2 stitches from the oposite side.
1. First join one stitch to its oposite stitch as shown in the photo:
Then make one sc in this two stitches you have joined. After that, make another sc joining the next stitch to its oposite.
2. Ch 1, turn and dec.
Finish off.
3. Repeat the same steps to make every other finger (there are 5 in total). To make the next finger, join the next stitch to its oposite:
– Cream detail:
Round 1: 6 sc in MC (6)
Round 2: inc (12)
Round 3: inc 3 times, sc 3, inc 3 times, sc 3 (18)
Round 4: sc, inc 3 times, 6 sc, inc 3 times, 5 sc (24)
Finish off and leave a long tail for sewing.
– Assembly:
1. Make his body;
2. Now, it’s time to make the weight. Using a resistent fabric make a sack in the same shape of his crochet body, but a little smaller (or pick any fabric sack you have (needs to be bigger than his body), insert it inside his body and fill it with sand). Put this bag inside his body and fill it with sand. Close it.
3. Sew the “dress” to his body. It’s sewn covering the cream part, following the line between the two colors;
4. Sew his head to his body;
5. Sew his ears to the head;
6. Sew his arms to the dress/body
7. Sew the “cream detail” to the dress/body;
8. Make his teeth and eyes and glue it to his face using contact glue.
I did not created this character, Munchlax is copyright of Nintendo!!

When you start on the body and the head do you make a MC and then do the chains? Everything I’ve looked up for joining rounds say so but it’s not mentioned here.
you did not write a colour change for the body but imply there is one in the assembly aspect. why???????

Do you have the dimensions of the Munchlax? Like how tall it is? As you are using it as a doorstop I don’t think it’s too small eh? My friend loves Munchlax so I would love to make one for her.
I did not know this page.Its very nice.Thanks!
Hey I absolutely love your patterns <3 Especially the Pokemon ones!!!!! I was gonna make em all! P.S. I saw the WIP picture of your next project. It's sadness from Inside Out isn't it?! She is so unmistakable! Keep up the awesome work!
